I was approached by soon-to-be published author, Lee Mitchell to create a cover for their first crime novel '11:11', alongside assets for personal branding and promotional content. The name 11:11 comes from the time scheduled for the protagonist's train that she uses to escape danger at a pivotal moment in the story.

Both myself and Mitchell agreed that we wanted to create a visual that would stick out from other crime novels on a bookshelf. Therefore I decided to take a minimalist approach, working with the typography, rather than imagery. The cover reads like a subtle clue to unveil the story.

I used straight parallel lines with the title '11:11' to convey train tracks, these then continue into blood drips to communicate the crime genre. The white colour scheme stands out from a heavy use of gray, black and dark blues on most crime novels.

With a finalised cover, I took to creating promotional content and helping to kickstart a marketing campaign for the novel's ebook release. I advised Mitchell (Who will be self-published) to capitalise on literary events by printing and leaving flyers across the area. This was put into practise at Harrogate Crime Festival, in which Mitchell left flyers in book stores, local pubs and the festival grounds.
